I was also very surprised to hear about Season 2. 『Hataraku Maou-sama』became very popular long time ago. I read the novel and watched Season 1, 8 years ago. I still remember that anime version was very fun to watch as a comedy due to animation effects!

The story of Hataraku Maou-sama!

The story takes place in a fantasy world. Satan tried to invade people’s world, but he failed. One female hero confronted him. He had to retreat with his subordinate, Alciel. He had to go through a gate that transports him to the modern world......

He ran away into the modern-day Tokyo, Japan! He could not have magical power anymore. Horns from his head were gone! No wings on his back. No sharp nails. He lost everything to make him look like a devil. Of course, he can’t speak the language there! So, Satan and Alciel obviously looked weird so they were asked to come with police officers!

Satan found that he could use very weak magical power like hypnosis. So somehow he borrowed 10,000 yen from the police and started understanding the situations and cultures around them. And eventually, he was able to rent a room from a super shabby apartment.

They understood that they could not go back to the world where they were from. They decided to live life in this modern world until their magical power would come back. Satan worked part time to make money. Alciel worked at home and did some research about how to gain their magical power back.

Can they go back home? Can they gain their magical power back? Satan was always worried about being fired from his work. Satan’s slapstick “part time” comedy started in the modern-day Tokyo!
