【Pokémon】It’s finally here! The Release of the Latest Series! What are the Key Points for the J-people? Let’s go over the curious details with Nozaki!

Yes! Today, 11/18, is the release date of the latest of the Pokémon series, Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet! I chose to buy Violet, but I haven’t decided who to make my partner...... I’m so conflicted! Those of you reading this, have you already made up your mind!? Every Pokémon is so unique and so cute~!!

Well! Today I want to summarize everything that I and other Pokémon fans of Japan have been focusing on since pre-release! How is Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet different from the previous Pokémon series? Let’s check it out together along with my personal focal points!

The order of story conquest is up to the player!
Travel around the vast Paldea region, and find your one and only “treasure”!”

First, one major appeal is the use of an open world system!

Open world means a system with an environment setting with no predefined areas and borders, allowing players to approach goals through exploring freely! This means that one can travel freely the world that’s in front of their eyes! Lately, the open world system is used by “The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild,” “Genshin Impact” and such, and this is the first time that the Pokémon Series uses an open world system!

Pokémon Series’ story has typically consisted of solving problems, winning against various’ city gym leaders, and completing given tasks in order. But, for this new series, to make the most of this open-world system, there are about 3 predefined stories where the order of conquest is up to the player’s own choice!

The 3 stories are,

• Travel through various region’s gyms and aim for the Champion Rank, “Champion Road”
• Search for rare ingredients with friends, “Legend Route”
• Challenge “Team Star,” the group of school delinquents, “Stardust☆Street”.

It seems to be split into these 3! For the people who want to experience a similar storyline to the traditional Pokémon games, it looks like the ‘Champion Road’ is the way to go! I want to learn about Paldea region’s culture and culinary ways, so I’m going to play from the ‘Legend Route’! Either way, it’s so thrilling to meet new Pokémon and interesting characters!

Also, starting with this series, you can now explore the field together with other friends playing online! In the previous series, communication with friends was limited to battles and Pokémon trades, but now you can travel together! This is way too exciting!

Two professors this time!? Attractive characters are getting revealed one after another!

For this new series, the professors who (probably) give you the first Pokémon, differ per version! This is also new! We’ve seen different gym leaders per versions in the past, but it’s the first time that versions have different professors! I wonder how this would influence the scenario......!

In Japan, the new gym leader Iono is super popular!

Of the characters revealed, in Japan, the new gym leader Iono is peerlessly popular! Her cute looks, her live stream videos as an influencer, and her (charmingly) naughty character to gain popularity are all reasons why I really like Iono too! They’ve even released the behind-the-scenes of her actual livestreaming, and her popularity went up even more!

I’m obviously on the lookout for the new characters, but I’m reeeally interested in the new Pokémon too! As of now, I feel like there’s a lot of kawaii Pokémon (every Pokémon looks cute), but I am personally interested in Fidough and Greavard! What a cute dog-Pokémon...... I love cats too but, I really love dogs as well!

Talking about all the interesting features made me want to play Pokémon Violet so much......!! Those of you reading this too, please go ahead and play Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet! The creative passion and so much new factors incorporated, I’m going to go ahead and play it now too!!
