Let’s review two stories, containing in Muv-Luv!

Before sharing Muv-Luv Alternative, I will share Muv-Luv first, which released before Muv-Luv Alternative!
A novel game, Muv-Luv, which released in 2003, came with two stories!

EXTRA Version

It’s a classic-type crazy school gag comedy.
The story focuses on the main protagonist, Shirogane Takeru’s peaceful high school life, with his childhood friends, close friends and cute girls.

UNLIMITED Version

It’s another scenario which allows you to play if you complete some specific conditions in EXTRA Version.
When the main protagonist, Shirogane Takeru, wakes up one day, he finds himself in the parallel world. Although there are girls who he is very familiar with in this world, it’s actually called “BETA,” which has been invaded by Extraterrestrial life.
Takeru rides a battle robot, “BETA” and fights against them to save the earth, but......?
One game comes with two versions; EXTRA and UNLIMITED. The ending you get in EXTRA Version will influence UNLIMITED Version. Therefore, these two stories are closely related with each other! Muv-Luv is the best and well-balanced series with a peaceful EXTRA Version and UNLIMITED Version, full of despair and battles, I guess! They attract with each other, huh?

Well, then...... What Is Muv-Luv Alternative?

Well, then, let’s get back to where we were! What kind of series is Muv-Luv Alternative?
Simply put, Muv-Luv Alternative is a story, where Takeru, holding a memory from Muv-Luv UNLIMITED Version, travels through time and redo Muv-Luv UNLMITED Version!
Muv-Luv Alternative is a story, where they foreshadow the secrets and events that weren’t revealed in UNLIMITED Version and fight, aiming at different endings.
Actually, Muv-Luv Alternative was supposed to have the third story to Muv-Luv but they assumed that it would be too much in volume so they decided to separate it into two and release them.

Should we watch EXTRA Version and UNLIMITED Version before we watch Anime, Muv-Luv Alternative?

Let me get to the point first. Since Muv-Luv Alternative is a story, where they travel through time and redo UNLIMITED Version, I think you should check out both EXTRA Version and UNLIMITED Version in advance.
But, in my opinion, as for anime version, both EXTRA Version and UNLIMITED Version will be made into anime too (although they have Alternative in the title)!
Why? Because it would be difficult to understand Muv-Luv Alternative unless we know what kind of story EXTRA Version and UNLIMITED Version, especially UNLIMITED Version (containing time traveling) are. And since this is the very first anime adaptation in Muv-Luv series, both EXTRA Version and UNLIMITED Version might be made into anime too...... I mean, that’s what I hope! As for the anime, starting to air in October, how will Muv-Luv series be depicted? Can’t wait, huh~??
