Order came safe and sound

It took some time but that was expected. My order couldn’t have came wrapped more perfectly. And they also gave me 12 clear wraps for my books which is perfect because I’ve but a lot of key frame books recently. So I really needed those. Great experience!

My favorite Kill la Kill Purchase

This art book is simply breathtaking. It features hundreds of illustrations of the whole cast in full color. There is an emphasis on character expression sheets and full body character art which they used during the show's production to help the younger animating team back at Trigger HQ.
Despite all characters making an appearance, even minor ones I totally forgot about (2 star club presidents/Osaka arc villains I'm looking at you) there is an abundance of Mako and Mankanshoku family art as well as a lot of elite four art. Both Ryuko and Satsuki get less attention as do Ragyo and Takarada(Ragyo and Takarada only get one page each!) Overall this book follows a cutesy theme leaving out some of the ecchi-action imagery from the show(not a lot of powered-up Ryuko.) In that regard it compliments the show which doesn't have a lot of slower, cute moments.

By far the best part of the book is the last third which tells the story of Mako growing up and meeting Ryuko, all of which is told without words through illustration. I can only describe it as rapturous bliss. It gave me the best sense of closure for the show yet, and should've been part of the KLK OVA that aired years ago. It feels like a clear, peacefully sense of contentedness- a warm ending to a wild ride.

All in all, Sushio Club is a phenomenal art book for a phenomenal anime series. This book is possibly the best KLK art book out there, but don't buy expecting lots of ecchi. Other KLK art books fill that niche anyway as does the show.

10/10- Necessary for any diehard Kill la Kill fan.
