When you hear "VOCALOID", which character comes to mind?

“VOCALOIDS” are anime-style characters based on the software “VOCALOID” that enables users to synthesize a singing voice. The VOCALOID software was developed by Yamaha Corporation and gained tremendous popularity. The videos of VOCALOIDS are released on video sharing websites, such as YouTube and Nico Nico Douga, a Japanese website similar to YouTube. As they gain more popularity, many VOCALOIDS are created.

There are many VOCALOIDS, such as MEIKOKAITOKagamine LenKagamine RinMegurine Luka, and so on. In this article, I would like to introduce the most famous VOCALOID, Hatsune Miku.

Hatsune Miku…she is the most famous VOCALOID in the world!
She appears in TV commercials for cars and school bags for children. She is a well-known character in Japan and was even featured in a special TV program. In fact, she is so popular that she will be mentioned in music textbooks for high school students!

Hatsune Miku’s twintails that almost reach the ground and her knee-length socks enhance the splendor of her figure like a model(๑>ᴗ<๑)ノ It is often overlooked but there are frills on the rim of her shirt(◍•○•◍) and even the small details are cute(*´ー`*) As a singing synthesizer, she has the near-futuristic elements, such as sleeves, headphone, and luminous boots(灬╹ω╹灬) She is popular not only for her music but also for her dance because her long twintails cutely move along when she dances!

The feature of Miku-San is that, depending on the songs, you can see various version of her( ´艸`), such as cute(✿╹◡╹), cool(`-+´), beautiful(ㆁᴗㆁ✿), “tsundere” (`・^・), a Japanese term often used in anime to describe a character who is initially cold and hostile toward others before showing sweet side gradually, “yandere” (♥ω♥), another Japanese term for a character who has a two-side personality and is mentally unstable, and so on. This is because Miku’s character is not defined specifically. Depending on the songs, she shows her softer side and then, she can also be mysterious. My recommendations are “Senbon Zakura”, “Romeo to Cinderella”, and “Miku Miku ni Shite Ageru”. You can see her singing many songs, wearing many costumes, and even “ Hito Miku”, means that she is singing solo. This is more than you ask for.

By the way, Miku is associated with a spring onion. It seems like that it came from the video site showing Miku singing “Ievan Polkka”, a Russian folk songξ(▰˘o˘▰)ξ~♪
The character image of Hatsune Miku was spread through this internet site, and many viewers associated her with a spring onion as she was singing cutely holding a spring onion. That is why many of her products have been collaborated with a “spring onion”, and that includes steamed meat buns ŧ‹"(๑>﹏<@)ŧ‹"

Many official VOCALOIDS are added in the line, and VOCALOIDS created by fans are also growing recently. Their great songs sometimes make you feel sentimental, moved, and even cheer you up!

Which song is your favorite song from VOCALOIDS? I hope that you will learn more about the world of VOCALOIDS and find your personal favorite song!
